ASIA MASON

About

My name is Asia Mason and I am a conceptual documentary photographer from Montreal, Canada. Growing up in a matriarchal household has greatly influenced my approach to projects and the emphasis I place on the voices of those who’ve historically been silenced. I look back at history with an artist’s eye and a warm hand extended to the women that have come before me. Each of my concepts are rooted in a personal history and translate that into universal stories about memory, history and the construction of identity.

I try to make the most intimate parts of my history tangible through images, multimedia and installation so it can be understood in a new light. I transcend the traditional boarders of documentary photography with my own conceptual ideas letting my voice seep into every project.

A graduate from the Professional Photography program at Dawson College, I have been featured in the Resistance and Resilience exhibition in 2020.
